Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United American. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm shortly thereafter. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until now. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February, 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment that will pay for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover from one job to the next during Corcoran’s childhood. Sometimes, the family relied on deliveries of free food from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran states that her father was a drunken man who was rude to her mother and condescension. Corcoran struggled in school, and later found out that she was dyslexic. She attended the local Catholic elementary school, and then began high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
